  • AFTER WORK

It is a magnificent feeling to be admittied to Harvard, Oxford , to Sorbonne University or I could mention Humboldt or any other institution. But after the arrival of the "thicker envelope" with the first words of: Congratulations! You are admitted. Welcome to. etc. there is still a lot to do until final enrollment. A joyful but though period is coming for the student whose foreign career seems to be certain.

First of all, before the complete termination of the application process there are some forms to send after the application deadline. One of them is the Final Report, which is similar to the Mid-Year School Report, and displays the applicants most recent school performance. The Final Report has to be sent in the end of school term which means after Decision and even after Notification Day. In case this report shows a significant drop in the applicant's result the university can still reject the enrollment of the student. So do not just lay down, skip classes or rest at the end of the school term after you have been notified about your admission and success. You can only be sure - if no administrational mishap occurs - once you get off the airplane and head towards your university. What's more, only if you hold your diploma and have your mortar on the top of your head; that is the moment when you can say: I've done that.

The letter containing congratulation for your admission will give some other duties to you, too. Most of the universities will send you an invitation for an Opening Day, or even for an Opening Week where you can get to know your university. You can taste the national food, and try the dormitories' beds to have an insight in university life that is going to wait for you. Besides, you will have the opportunity to visit classes as well. Next to this invitation you will find the sheet about Housing Information. You have fill it out and indicate whether you would like to live on-campus (recommended) or off-campus, smoking, or non-smoking stock, or you prefer co-educated dormitories or not. You can make your preference list if you have school-mated with whom you would like to share your room. They will give you links and on-line pictures and maps of house locations to help your decisions. You also have to indicate your mealing preferences. Finally, you will see an invoice on the enrollment fee, which you have to pay if you've decided to go to that particular university.

Once all the papers on enrollment have been sent to the university you can start working on your traveling. Under the tasks in connection with traveling abroad it is understood to arrange the proper visa requirements, to organize your flight and insurance, to go shopping and to prepare for the national assimilation and difficulties (orientation, phone calls, special customs etc.). EngAme provides complete preparation in all the mentioned topics (for instance, helps you reserve the cheapest plane tickets, make the visa process faster and gives you advice on accommodation and meals, too.) as part of our company's service.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that among the aftermath of a student's admission and enrollment there is the chance to gain new and international connections, friendships or experience life abroad. But you should never forget keep in touch with your home, to visit those whom you have left behind for some time.
